Below is an example of my personal impressions of the 60s when I was a teenager.
Remember the sixties? The Beatles, the Doors, Santana, Elvis, Bob Dylan, Beach Boys, Elvis, Woodstock--the list goes on. What exciting times they were! Flower power, peace signs, bell bottoms, long hair, afros, cheap gas and the anti war protest movement all were a part of my life as a teenager. It was a time that everything was changing so fast, I wanted to be a part of it all. We were breaking away from the mold of so many generations before us.
Doors were opening up for minorities and issues that had been kept silent for so long were being brought out in the open. We were tired of "children should be seen and not heard". They heard us loud and clear, we wanted change and we wanted it now! The Viet Nam war made us grow up fast too, our brothers, neighbors, schoolfriends......countless lost lives.
When I look back at where we've been and where we are today, the sixties played a very important part in making life today what it is. I am glad I was a part of it!
