One of the important people in the French Revolution was Jacques Rousseau. Rousseau was born on 1712 and died on 1778. Rousseau' ideas affected the ideology of the French Revolution. Rousseau believed that man is naturally born "good" but that through "civil society" human begins become corrupt. Rousseau's ideas about education broke with the standard in that he believed that women should be educated.

Another important person was Maximilian Robespierre. Robespierre instigated the Region Terror against his opponents but was eventually overthrown and executed. Many historians regard him as the most significant figure of the French Revolution.
