There are 8 books of Conic

 

 

 

Apollonius was born in Greek Ionia(Now Turkey)

. Apollonius was a great geometers. He wrote his first book of Conic at the Pergamum. The first term hyperbola,ellipse and parabola. In the U.S. we still use those words today. The series Conics is made up of 8 books.

 

 

They have not found the 8th book. The others explain a little bit of the 8th book.

 

 

Definitions

 

Parabola- A conic section taken parallel to an element of the intersected cone. The locus of points equidistant from fixed line and a fixed point not on the line.

 

ellispe- A conic section taken neither parallel to an element nor parallel to the axis of the intersected cone. The locus of points the sum of the distances of each of which from two fixed points is the same constant.
