In a land a long time ago, Zeus was sitting in his big arm chair waiting for a message from Hermes. What seemed like an eternity, was only about three hours when Hermes finally showed up with the message for Zeus.

"Hades and his best friend Boulder just dropped a rock on an unidentified animal. It looked like a leopard," said Hermes.

"I thought I locked Boulder up. He must have escaped. I must find a big, strong, mighty, and brave man to lift the big rock off the animal," said Zeus.

With that Zeus went on a search for a man for the job. He searched all over the place for a man, but couldn't find one.

"I must find Prometheus," said Zeus. He went on a search for Prometheus and found him.

"Do you think you could sculpt me a strong, mighty, and brave man by sun down?" asked Zeus.

"I'm sure I could," said Prometheus.

By sundown Zeus came back. Prometheus had finished the strong man. Zeus then granted it life. Looking proud at it, Zeus named it Muscle Man.

They then went on search for Boulder and Hades. They started hearing a hard laughter and followed it. They found Boulder and Hades laughing at the poor animal as it struggled to get free from the rock. It struggled so hard to get out, it stretched its neck. Zeus then turned boulder into dust and sent Hades back to the underworld.

Zeus had Muscle Man lift the rock. It took a lot of work, but he was able to do it. When he got the rock off the leopard looking animal, they stood and gazed at it. They noticed it was about 20 feet long with its stretched neck. Zeus was able to communicate with it.

"It says its name is Gerald Raffe. I wonder if I could shorten it. Oh!!! I got it!!! How about Giraffe!?!" Zeus said.

A big rock was listening in on the conversation and then started to yell to Zeus about its name.

"What about me!?! I have a dull name and I'm sick of it!!"

Zeus then made it dumb so it couldn't talk and then changed its name to boulder, after Boulder that dropped the rock on the Giraffe.

That is how Giraffes got long necks, why they're named Giraffes, why rocks can't talk, and how big rocks got names.
