The Making of the Moon and its Rotations

By Mary

Zeus, king of the gods, often became lonely. So he told Prometheus to make man to entertain him.

Prometheus made man and before long, man learned things quickly. Man began learning how to calculate and add up things.

Zeus started to get very nervous. He was thinking about how rapidly man was growing and at how fast they were learning. So Zeus decided that they needed to take a break and rest.

Zeus thought and thought and thought some more. Then, finally he decided to make something called night.

So in the middle of each day Zeus would stop, lie down and pull a beautiful blanket over him and that would turn the sky dark. Therefore, the humans could not do a thing and had to rest

However Zeus did not realize that his blanket had a hole in it. This caused it to shine where there was one big round circle which let out light at night.

Man named it moon, and sure enough every night the moon was there. The funny thing was that every night it was in a different spot. Man finally realized that it was Zeus. They found out that Zeus almost always rolled around in his sleep.

And this is how the moon and its rotations came to be.
