Iris, the goddess of spectrum, was once in love with a man name Turats. They had a son named Bowsephus who inherited his mother's beautiful colors in his hair, which changed with his mood. When Bowsephus was five years old, tragedy struck, and Turats died.
About the same time, Zeus, the king of the gods, and Aphrodite, the goddess of love became the parents of Larain, a young goddess. Hera, Zeus' wife was angry at Zeus for his brief love spree, and jealous of Zeus' love for Larain. So, she turned Larain into a water nymph. However, since it was not completely Larain's fault, Hera let her retain her beauty and intelligence.
Surprised and alone, Larain started to sing a most sad and beautiful song about her parents' doomed romance. Bowsephus heard her singing and was enchanted by the beautiful melody and pure notes. At first sight they both knew they were in love.
Two months after their first meeting, they were married. Just after the wedding, they decided to go on a moonlight horse ride. As they were riding, they came to a cliff and stopped to look at the stars. Larain's horse seemed to have become restless and frightened. Larain tried to calm it, but it would not be calmed. Then she saw it. A snake had been laying in front of the hose and had spooked it. She watched as its head rose to strike. The horse bucked, throwing Larain into the black gloom of the deep ravine.
As Bowsephus stared down at his newly wed wife's wide lifeless eyes and still cold form, his chest tightened. He choked on the tears that threatened to overcome him. His insides cried out in emotional pain. He reached down, unsheathed his knife and thrust it into his chest. Slowly he took his last breath and whispered into the wind, "I love you!!!" Then he drifted into a dark oblivion.
Aphrodite's eyes were glazed. She was shocked when the news had reached her. Her poor daughter, so young and beautiful, where was she now? The underworld. She had talked to Iris too. She was equally shocked, if not more. Their precious children, so far away. Tomorrow, she and Iris would go see what Zeus could do about their children.
Aphrodite was horribly sad and terribly happy at the same time. Her daughter was being released from the underworld and was going to join Zeus on Mount Olympus to help with the weather, but Hades had refused to do anything for Iris' son. He would stay in the underworld. What would happen to Iris????

"Where am I?" Larain asked her father.
"Mount Olympus," Zeus replied.
"Is Bow here?" she said showing a little hope for the answer she wanted.
"Who?....Oh, your human friend!! Of course not, only gods are allowed here!!" he said in a haughty voice.
"Then make him one!" she cried, as tears welled up in her beautiful blue eyes.
"Never!" Zeus yelled.
"But I love him!" she screamed and laid down on a cloud and cried.
Many people came and tried to console her, but she would not be consoled by any other than her Bowsephus. She cried so hard her tears came falling to Earth. Finally when the Earth was in danger of being destroyed by floods, Zeus softened and said he would make Bowsephus a god if she would only be happy again. Her reply was, "How could I be unhappy with my true love by my side?" So Bowsephus became a god.
Some days Bowsephus decides to visit his mother reassuring Larain he will return. Still she cries when he is gone and wets the Earth with her tears, then Apollo raises the sun to bring Bowsephus. As he races home to see what is wrong, the colors of his beautiful hair are reflected across the sky. And that, my dear, is where we get the rainbow.
