Introduction- 

Hera was the sister and wife of Zeus. She was the daughter of Cronus and Rhea. In the late legend she was the queen of heaven, though not the gods. Hera was quarrelsome, and sometimes disputed, Zeus' authority as chief of the gods.

She was also jealous often with good reason. Her feelings toward Hercules were inspired by Zeus' infidelity with Alcmene, Hercules' mother. Hera helped the Greeks in the Trojan war because Paris of Troy awarded the golden apple, for fairest to her rival Aphrodite. Zeus beat Hera when she didn't quiet down, but that didn't work so he chained her to the clouds until she was subdued. Hera is usually pictured wearing flowing robes, a diadem, and holding a scepter. Her Roman counterpart was Juno.

How Lightning Got Its Name

Lightny was having an affair with Zeus. Hera found out and was furious. She decided to get revenge on Zeus by killing Lightny. Hera went to find Lightny. She found Lightny picking flowers. Hera was smart because she changed herself into a flower more beautiful than woman. Lightny found the flower and started to pick it when a hole opened up in the ground. Hera than grabbed Lightny and pulled her down to the underworld. Hera was hoping Hades could help her, but he said, " No way am I going to hurt her or marry her." Hera is now more furious than ever. Hera takes Lightny back to where she was picking flowers where Hera kills her. Hera then goes up to Zeus and tells him that someone killed Lightny. Now whenever lightning strikes and lights up the sky, it is expressing the way Zeus is feeling about her fatal death. It is also Zeus remembering both the good and the bad times that they had together. Lightny is now another lost soul located in the underworld.
