The Vegarians were unhappy with having to make sacrifices to the gods of Mount Olympus. They had their own thought on life. They wanted to leave Greece and go to a promised land of peace where they could make their own religion and worship their own gods.

On their way leaving Greece, a large storm was building. Poseidon was sending all of these storms and he also sent a tidal wave. The tidal wave was so big that it threw the Vegarians and their boat up nearly a mile into the air. They fell back to the ground so fast that when their legs hit the ground, the soil nearly swallowed them up. When they awoke, the Vegarians were up to their waists into the ground. Hades grabbed their feet and legs. He turned their legs to roots and their bodies into stems and limbs so they are never to move, talk, and to sacrifice their bodies for not only the gods, but the common citizens too. That is how we have the plants we have today.
