Julie, a nymph, fell in love with Zeus. Julie wanted to give Zeus a gift but she didn't know what to give him. She asked Aphrodite to help her since she is the goddess of love. Aphrodite then called on Demeter, the goddess of the harvest, to help them. Demeter suggested they grow a tall sunflower so it can reach the heavens where Zeus is. Hades, the god of the underworld, was jealous because nobody loved him and love would be reaching Zeus.
Since Hades was mad that Demeter and Aphrodite were helping Julie, he tried to capture her. Zeus noticed her love for him and took her away to his kingdom.
Now the sunflower grows tall so it can reach out to the heavens for Zeus.
