Artemis was the goddess of the moon and the twin sister of Apollo. One day Artemis was watching down on Earth when she noticed a man walking down a crowded city street. This man wasn't ordinary though, he stood out from everybody else in the street. It was like he had a glow to him.
Artemis seemed to like the man, so she had him brought to her palace on top of Mount Olympus. The man went before Artemis to ask why he was brought to her palace, but when he looked at Artemis he became speechless. She looked down at him and said,"What is your name, oh handsome one?"
"My name is Siskel," replied the man.
"That is a nice name," said Artemis.
Soon Artemis and Siskel fell in love and shortly were married. A beast called Gore threatened to destroy Mount Olympus unless someone was able to destroy him. Ares, the god of war, and Siskel were the only two brave enough to take him on.
Ares and Siskel prepared to battle the beast. They fought Gore, and he was destroyed. Siskel was killed during the battle with Gore. Artemis was devastated. In honor of Siskel's bravery to battle the mystical creature, Artemis created the moon to remember him. That is why we have the moon.
