Ares and the Shape of Our Land

By Jackie

One cold winter day, a very long time ago when all of the Earth's land was connected, Ares, the god of war, became very bored. He decided to cause many unnecessary battles and wars for his own entertainment. These wars lasted for many months causing many humans to die.

This greatly upset Zeus because his worshipers were dying for no reason. So Zeus threw down one of his greatest lightning bolts. When the lightning bolt hit the ground it caused a great earthquake that knocked all of the soldiers down. This really scared Ares, because he knew the lightning bolt had been sent from Zeus. He decided, very quickly, to stop all of the battles and wars.

The battles were not the only thing effected by this mighty earthquake; it also caused all of the countries, islands, and land to be shaped like it is today.
