George Guess and the Cherokee alphabet

eorge Guess was a Cherokee tribesman who invented the Cherokee alphabet. He invented it in 1821 so his people could read and write. George Guess's Cherokee name was Sequoya. He made a newspaper for his people in 1828 called the Phoenix Sun. The alphabet he created is still in use today and has 86 symbols from the Latin language. He also traveled the U.S. He was from the"other side of the hill."
