You are about to embark on a strange and fascinating journey investigating a problem involving trails and the environment. Be sure that you take the time to read your prompts and directions. Investigate all the websites that are available to help you make workable decisions. These sites were chosen because they have very useful information to help you make decisions. Hopefully, at the end of your adventure, you will have solved one of the dilemmas that you have come across. Before you begin this adventure, make sure you have a pen or pencil and a notebook. There is also a Research Guide available for you to complete while you are incestigating.
Buzz. Buzz. Buzz. It's 7:25 a.m. and your alarm just went off. Pretty soon you know your mother will be coming into your room to see if you are out of bed yet. Why is getting out of bed so hard.
"Honey," Your mom yells.
"I'm up," you say hoping she will not come into your room to check. Then you hear a knock on your door as you mother is entering.
"Honey, your teacher just called and wants to make sure you are at school today." your mom says.
"Yes, moooom I am going to school today," you say as dreadfully as possible.
"She said you won something," your mother says with much excitement. You jump out of bed and get dressed as fast as you can. Now you cannot wait to get to school, school is so fun!
Finally, the bus shows up. You enter the bus and your bus driver gives you a smile, as you say"Good Morning!" You bus driver nearly wrecks, she has never heard you speak before. As you walk back to your seat your see your best friend Tommy.
You yell back to him, "my teacher called me this morning and told my mom I won something." Your friend Tommy's face lights up.
Tommy then yells "she called me too!" So you sit down next to him and try to think what you guys have won. Soon the bus gets to school and drops off the screaming bus load. You and Tommy got off the bus and started to run.
You two did not get very far until your principal said "WALK PLEASE!" You and Tommy slow down a little but cannot wait to get to your room. Finally, you enter the room and your teacher says "Good Morning!"
The two of you yell "What did we win?" at the same exact time.
"Remember that Essay that you two wrote to the Mayor last year? The essay that explained that you needed money so you could design a really awesome trail. The Mayor adored your essay and you two have been selected as the Grand Prize Winners. You two get to design the perfect trail and present it to him."Wow, you remember writing that essay but what in the world are the steps to take in making a trail? What kind of a trail are you going to make? Where is the trail going to go? How much is it going to cost? So a few questions are going through your mind. Let's start off by asking what kind of trail would you like to help Tommy make? Research each type of trail before you make your final decision.

You and Tommy are already shocked to have the opportunity of a life time, but now the type of trail is up to you. What could be better than this, you think to your self... school is so fun, you get to design a trail, and you get to make a decision for the whole entire community.
