Introduction
Your name is Mike Jones. You are a twenty-five year old resident of Eugene, Oregon and a high ranking member of Green Peace. Green Peace is an organization dedicated to achieving and maintaining the well being of the environment. As the activities coordinator, it is your job to plan activities that will help fulfill this goal.
You were sitting on the front poach one day, planning your next Green Peace excursion when you saw the mailman approaching. The two of you exchanged hellos as he handed you two important looking letters. The mailman departed as you excitedly tore into the first letter.

EugeneWhen you began reading you were shocked and amazed to find that it had been sent to you by the Prime Minister of Belize, Said Musa! The letter commended you for your work with Green Peace. ìI heard about you and your associates tying yourselves to trees in order to prevent loggers from cutting them downî, he said. ìThat's just the kind of creativity and ambition we need here in Belize.î The president went on to talk of the rain forest destruction that has been concerning him. The letter ended with a request that you travel to Belize to help save the rain forest.
The second letter was a plea for help from Cuauhtemoc Cardenas, the mayor of Mexico City. The mayor informed you of the air pollution that was having devastating effects on the city and the surrounding area. ìI have enclosed an airplane ticket to Mexico Cityî, said the mayor, ìwhere you will enjoy the finest accommodations we have to offer if you will agree to help us find a solution to the problem we are facing.
You must now make a decision. Either travel to Mexico City and assist with the air pollution problem or Belize to search for a solution to rain forest depletion. Your decision should be based on which problem you consider to be most in need of a solution as well as which problem you feel is more likely to have a solution. Your journey has begun. Good luck!
