Hi teachers!  The purpose of this iAdventure is to help young adults learn to manage their money and prepare a simple budget.  This iAdventure not asks students to shop around to find the best prices but also to investigate the different products that are on the market and find the ones that best fit their needs.  Students start with a list of the items they might like to purchase and then research those products at various sites.  They determine which is best for them and then record where they found their item as well as the cost.  They then search other sites to see if the same item is available for a cheaper prices.  At then end of the iAdventure the students should have a list of items, prices and the stores where they found them.  Their final conclusion will be their final budget sheet which will include the item, the store they wish to purchase it from and the price.  They will add up their list to make sure that it fits their given budget of $400.00.

The student will
make an educated decision regarding which character they will be.
The student did not list the pros and cons of the characters and simply chose one with no research. The student listed three or fewer pros and cons and did minimal research. The student listed more than three pros and cons and visited four or more sites to determine which character to choose.
The student will research the items they have chosen to purchase, finding the best prices to fit their budget. The student listed 3 or fewer items and visited only one store to find a good price for each item. The student listed more than 3 items and visited the three given sites and wrote down the stores and comparative prices. The student visited more than the given sites and researched in detail the items desired.  The prices and stores are recorded for comparison purposes.
The student has created a budget that does not exceed the set amount of money.  The student's budget is considerably under budget or over budget.  There is little evidence that the student effectively researched their items. The student's budget is slightly over the given amount.  There is sufficient evidence that the student recorded the prices and stores.  The student was able to purchase approximately half of the desired items. The student's budget does not exceed the given amount and is only slightly under budget.  The student was able to budget money for nearly all items desired and has a good list of comparative prices.

Have students list on their own paper the pros and cons of being Chellie or Justin.  Students must list reasons for choosing one character or the other and their decision on what to shop for.  They will use the budget sheet to help them determine their final purchases.  The Final Budget Sheet will be where they actually record those final "purchases."
