Now that you have read and learned about how to write 18th century style, it is your duty to write your formal declaration. Use the techniques discussed in class as well as observed from your studies to write your formal letter to King George III. You must first write a draft of your letter and then we will group-peer edit your letters. Make sure that you keep your copy of the scoring guide with you at all times. This will assist you in the creation of the best declaration since the Declaration of Independence itself!
Upon completion of your final draft, each of you will share your declarations at our town meeting. You will announce your formal name and where you reside (the formal way in 1776). Once you have stated your name and where you live, you will read your declaration!
Assessment You will be graded on several aspects of your declaration. See the scoring guide below for further details. If you have any questions, be sure to ask your teacher for assistance. Once you have completed your declaration, turn it in to your teacher before continuing. (If you need an extra questionnaire, click here to print one.)
