Teacher Information Page

This iAdventure was created because I am addicted to all things "Alaska!" As a former owner of a much-beloved (and now deceased) Siberian Husky and an Army depedent who was born there, I find myself drawn there in spirit each year during the running of "The Last Great Race." I share my love of the Iditarod with my students each year and found the iAdventure to be an exciting way to introduce it to them.

I know that there are controversies that surround the race--animal welfare groups have protested loudly against it for years. Although I address this issue with my classes and share both sides objectively in class discussions, this iAdventure is pro-Iditarod. I believe that a pro-Iditarod stance includes the humane treatment of these beautiful, graceful "athletes," the dogs.
