Teacher Information Page

This iAdventure is designed for fourth or fifth grade students. Students will take a historical journey. They will take the role of a pet mouse, Friedman, that travels with his Jewish owner in Germany and the surrounding countries during World War II encountering courage, fear and unexplainable hatred. Students will keep a journal and send a letter to a country outside Germany to try to enlighten the world to this horror. Perhaps they can get the truth out---and disprove the propaganda spread by the German government. Friedman will have the opportunity to gather accurate information. He will have internet access and secretly be able to gain information from survivors of the Holocaust to aid his owner in making critical decisions along their journey together.

Background Information

An iAdventure is a way of teaching students important concepts and skills by involving them in a storyline about one or more characters (fictional or real). Students read a short part of the story line and then review links related to concentration camps, Hitler, World War II and Holocaust survivors. After reviewing these source documents, students then make a decision and enter into the next story line and continue their adventure.
