Teacher Information Page

This web page should provide any information that teachers might need in order to effectively use your iAdventure. It is the only portion of your iAdventure that is written to the teacher, rather than to the students.

In this first section of the teacher page you should state some general information that is of utmost importance to a teacher who is considering using your iAdventure. What is the targeted grade range? What is the primary content area focus? About how long will the iAdventure take? These are issues that a teacher should see immediately, so he/she can decide if your iAdventure is appropriate.

Site Map

It is very helpful to provide a "clickable" map of your iAdventure site, so that a teacher can get a feel for how it works and can preview all the pages in an organized way. The table below is an example. You can change the text links in each table cell as needed. You can also add or delete rows and columns to suit the size of your iAdventure. You might consider making each of these links open the targeted page in a new browser window, so that teachers can simply close the new window to return to this page.

Background Information

An iAdventure is a way of teaching students important concepts and skills by involving them in a storyline about one or more characters (fictional or real). This space is where you should explain to teachers the connection between your iAdventure storyline and the concepts and skills that students will learn. In other words, this is your place where you make it clear what your iAdventure is all about.

When typing this section, imagine yourself as a teacher looking at your iAdventure for the first time. Does this section provide the information needed to understand the value of your iAdventure?

Curriculum Standards

It is often helpful to teachers to include a list of the Standards that your iAdventure is designed to address. These could be state standards, National Science (or Math) Standards, etc. This is particularly important to teachers who are searching for appropriate resources because they are in the process of aligning their curriculum with state standards.

Resources Needed

Provide here a list of specific materials, equipment, etc. that a teacher would need in order to carry out your iAdventure. Often this is no more than access to a group of Internet-connected computers, but specific iAdventures sometimes involve the use of other physical materials, such as journals, art supplies, video cameras, etc.

Assessment

You will most likely provide some details about the project's assessment in the Conclusion page of your iAdventure. But that section is designed for students only. There may be additional information that the teachers may need to know. This is the place to provide it. You may even want to paste a copy of the scoring guide or rubric here.

Creating Conclusions and Student Products

The culminating event or task of an iAdventure is when students create the conclusion or product, as described in the "Create a Conclusion" page. Often these tasks are somewhat complex and this is the place for you to provide any additional information that teachers might need in order to be prepared.

Acknowledgements

This is where you can give credit to those that may have provided you with important resources that you used to complete your iAdventure. This would the sources of your digital images, references to print materials, including fiction books, etc.

It might be a good idea to state that the iAdventure concept was developed in the Warrensburg, MO school district, as part of the "Learning with iAdventures" program. This program was funded by a Competitive Technology grant from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Provide a link here, like the following:
