Teacher Information Page
Welcome to the teacher information page of the Designer's Challenge iAdventure. An iAdventure is a way of teaching students important concepts and skills by involving them in a storyline about one or more characters (fictional or real). This iAdventure is designed to teach students about basic design elements used in interior design. This iAdventure is designed for high school students and could take two to four weeks depending on the length of the class, and how long each student gets to present at the end. During the iAdventure students are introduced to two characters, Edward and Dawn. Edward and Dawn have requested the students help at designing their bedroom and living room. The students find out facts about this couple throughout the iAdventure. At the end of the iAdventure the students are asked to create a sample board of the design they have created for the room. Each student would then present their design to Edward and Dawn (the class could pretend to be these characters). This iAdventure is based on the show Designer's Challenge which can be seen on the HGTV channel.

Creating Conclusions and Student Products
The culminating project for this iAdventure is to create a sample board of the room design. The students are asked to put the following items on their sample board:
--A title—The title should encapsulate the design of the room. Make sure it reflects which room you have chosen, bedroom or living
room and the style of design you have chosen.
--Pictures of furniture—If you wanted to purchase new furniture then you will need those pictures. If you chose to use the old furniture,
you will need pictures of the old furniture and how you have chosen to update it. Also, you will need pictures or drawings of any
accessories used in the room such as window treatments, plants, rugs, lamps, or tables.
--Swatches of materials—Include swatches of fabric, paint, or any other material that will be used in the room.
--Drawing of room layout—This will be a scale drawing of the room arrangement. All of the furniture and accessories need to be
depicted in this drawing. The drawing should be colored to depict all of the colors and materials used in the room. The room
layout can be an aerial view or a side view. If you would like you could do both to show different perspectives. The student will then present their design to Edward and Dawn (the class). During the presentation the student should explain all of the design elements and why they chose each one.
