Introduction
What is an iAdventure? An iAdventure allows you to join the main character of the story as he solves problems that are encountered. You will explore websites to conduct research and investigate issues. You will make decisions along the way and in the end write a letter explaining the point of view of a group of people concerning the issues at hand.
Join Christopher, a native Missourian, as he visits his family members back east. During your trip you will explore the lifestyle of the family you visit. While there will be many good times during your visit, you will also discover some issues that cause concern.
Present:
Past:
Climb on board the time machine, adjust the controls, and travel back in time to the 1800s! Whoa, that's far enough!
Pick yourself up and dust off your britches, because there is an eleven year old boy in worn trousers staring down at you. He sticks out his hand to shake yours and helps you up at the same time. He then introduces himself as Christopher Adams. You ask Christopher what the date is and where you have landed. He scratches his head as if you should know, but figures that you must have taken a good blow to the head whenever you fell out of the big, soft maple tree at the corner of the barn lot. He tells you that the year is 1861, and that you are on his family's farm near Warrensburg, Missouri.
Christopher was in the process of finishing his evening chores so that he could join the rest of his family for a supper of cornbread, ham, and beans before meeting you. He asks your name and invites you to supper. You readily accept his offer and help him finish slopping the hogs.
When you finish washing up at the water pump, you enter the warm, cozy farmhouse with Christopher. The delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen remind you of your grandmother's house at Thanksgiving. You join Christopher, his parents, his older brother, and two younger sisters as they crowd around the table and bow their heads to say a blessing for their food.
The company is good as the family visits about the day's events. Christopher's father asks him if he has made a decision yet as to where he would like to spend his summer, but Christopher shakes his head no in reply.
He then turns to you and shares his problem with you. He has to decide where he wants to go over the summer. One option is to visit his uncle who lives in New York and could use some help with the family business. The other option is to visit his family that lives in South Carolina and has invited him to spend the summer on their plantation. He needs to make a decision soon as to where he plans to travel, and he asks for your help in making the decision.
New York or South Carolina?
