Greeting educators, this iAdventure is a group, web based activity designed for grades 5 through 8, that focuses mainly around Health and Nutrition. Other areas included in this project are Communicative Arts, Math and Technology. This entire project could be incorporated into a thematical unit based upon nutrition. The entire adventure should run about three days. However time may be extended or shortened based upon the level of detail you wish to incorporate.
The basic synopsis is this: the group (usually 2 students) represent an Olympic Chef that has the job of feeding an athlete for two weeks. Based upon the group's choices, they must calculate the daily amount of calories it takes to maintain the athlete's current weight. In addition, depending on the type of competition the athlete participates in, they must calculate the amount of calories consumed. From this information, the group must create a menu based upon the particular taste of the athlete that is balanced and caloric appropriate.
