My Favorite Things

My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice. If you would like a description of the book check out the my favorite Jane Austen Fanatic Page. However, I also enjoy reading a large variety of non-fiction. One of my passions that I have held dear for many years, is oncology. Two wonderful sites about recent cancer studies are the American Cancer Society and OncoLink. I also participate in the annual "Walk for A Cure" that has moved to be nation wide during August or early September. I am especially active in my local church, where I teach Bible classes and try to volunteer at the local soup kitchen in downtown Kansas City on my free Saturdays.

My absolute favorite search engine is Google. I seem to be computer disaster prone until I reach google and then there is light! Yet, computers are the future and I enjoy using them especially when writing papers. Thank God for spell check! I will never be a computer wizard like my current college professor, but there is still hope that I might learn to type with more than one finger.

My third and final hobby I am going to discuss is my love of music. Please play music in your homes and classrooms when cleaning is to be done, tests are given, and always when free time is offered. Classical and Jazz have been found to stimulate the mind! I listen to classical music everyday. Make Fridays your fun day where you  let the students choose from your music selection. They will begin to love it, I promise. Check out this site about research with classical music. Music opens the doors to creativity!!!
