How awesome is that!!

You think the king and queen should have a bird of the parrot family for there new companion or pet, The Next Mr. Rainforest Link.

Birds of the Parrot Family

There are many types of parrots in rainforests.  Not all rainforests have the same birds.  For example: the cock-a-too is only found in Australia while the toucan is found only in South American rainforests.  Parrots are popular due to their colorful plumage and interesting behaviors.  They feed on fruits, nectar, fungi, seeds, roots, and wood boring insects.  Generally parrots are quite sociable, not very territorial, and can occur in large flocks

P. S. Remember you also have to name the bird.  So start brainstorming.

Characteristics of Parrots

# skin around the eye of a bird is called the `cere` (it is often obvious and enlarged)

# interesting `intestinal looping and lack an appendix

# broad skull with a large brain case

# bill-usually well developed with a large hooked, downcurved upper mandible, over a smaller upcurved lower mandible

    >upward mandible is attached to the skull via a flexible joint

   >used to crack and extract seeds

   >uses it as a grip to assist in climbing

# arrangement of the feet--two toes pointing forward and two toes pointing backward

    >allows for great dexterity, with feet being used like hands

# often use their feet to feed

# most have basic screeching calls
