A trip of a lifetime to....

Introduction

It has been argued that the Romans were one of the greatest contributors to Western Civilizations.  They were a very successful culture that flourished with ideas, and selflessly shared their ideas with others.  The Romans were rather peaceful people during the times of Pax Romana (meaning peaceful Rome).  Rome was a VERY beautiful place.  Because of it's beauty, many tourists would come to visit.  The tourists would fall in love with Rome's beauty and often would bring the Romans' ideas and styles home with them.  This occurence caused many "mini-romes" to appear.

Lucky you!  You have one the trip of a LIFETIME.  You, yes YOOOOU (and your family) get to go back in time to the Roman empire!  BUT before you pack your bags and hop on over the ocean, you better get to know the place you're going to!  You need to be prepared to see the NEW things that you don't see here in America.  You need to know how people think, the way they live thier life, their philosophies!  And especially you need to know who the emperor is!  You definitely need to know who you should show honor and respect to.  Of course you know how Americans live in America, but that doesn't mean Romans act like Americans!!!!  GET READY!!!

Industrious Roman Architecture

Romans made a great discovery that revolutionized the way things were built. The Romans discovered how to make cement!  This great improvement shortened the amount of time needed to complete big projects.  With all the extra time the Romans had on their hands, they were able to create new, wonderful things.  Two remarkable items the Romans are still well known for are their roads and aqueducts.
Hit the road or go for a splash?
The saying "All roads lead to Rome" is far from a myth, it's the truth!  Rome and it's surrounding provinces were filled with roads.  There were 53 THOUSAND miles of road that led into the great empire of Rome. The roads played a major role in keeping Rome a great empire.  The roads made travel and trade quick and fairly easy.

While the roads made travel and trade easy, aqueducts were responsibe for part of the astounding beauty of Rome.  The aqueducts stretched for miles across the empire, carrying water to homes, fountains, and baths (a social activity for the Romans).
