Once
arriving home you go play with your hoof and pin toy with your sister,
Leaping Doe. The Hoof and Pin game was made by your father from deer
foot bones and the skewer from a bison rib. The rules are to hold the skewer
in one hand and to hold the bones with your other hand against the throwing
elbow. The bones are then released with a thrust of the skewer as the player
attempts to catch the first bone. Catching the center of a bone is five
points or ten points for a side hole. If the first bone is missed, the
other team gets a try. If the bone is caught, the next bones are caught
in sequence until all bones have been caught.
