Schedule for Beginning of School Year

 

Typical Schedule of Handheld Procedures

August

August 1 Review and revise parent and student contracts for this school year.
August 5 Distribute parent contracts as part of enrollment packet (parents need to complete these before they can pick up student schedules.
August 5 Hand out student cantracts and have them sign and return them.
August 5 Charge all student handhelds.
August 6 Decide on the set of software to be installed on all student handhelds and set up one master student handheld with all programs and settings.
August 7-8 Use SD Deploy to image the master handheld setup to all student handhelds.
August 10 Assign usernames to all student handhelds (we do this by hotsyncing each handheld and assigning usernames through Palm Desktop.
August 22-23 Distribute carrying bags to students and begin the egg activity (students must carry a hardboiled agg in their carrying case for 48 hours without breaking it before they are given a handheld).
August 28-29 Distribute handhelds to students (for at least a week, students leave their handhelds at school, where they are charged overnight).

September

Sept. 5 Handhelds go home with students.
