''Engines In Time''
This report will describe the period of history in which Steam and Combustion engines made an impact. According to Collier's Encyclopedia, the first usable steam engine was made by Thomas Savery in 1698 and was used to pump out water from mine shafts. The steam engine was primarily used in the time period between 1698 and 1926. After that period it was replaced by the more efficient internal combustion engine. The first usable combustion engine was made by Karl Otto in Germany in 1876. We have been using the internal combustion engine ever since, and are still improving it.
One of the effects of the steam engine was to inspire people to create better engines. example being smaller and more efficient ones. The effects of the internal combustion engine are continuing today.
Where does this fit in the timeline of Earth's history? We are currently in the epoch which is the last 10,000 years. We are in the same period of geology that has lasted since the last ice age. The biological earth in the period of the engine is as we know it today.
