The habitat for the cockatiel would be tropical rain forest and savannah regions. The classroom habitat would be a cage so that the bird could hang on the side of the cage. The geographic range is in Australia. The food in the classroom is a mix of milo,sunflower seed,wheat,oats etc. It's food in the wild would also be seeds, nectar, fruits, and some insects.

Its predators in the wild would be snakes, hawks, crows, and humans. Humans kill the birds for the feathers and sometimes to eat. The mother cocketiel has eggs and sets on the eggs for a least 10 to 14 weeks. It's life span is up to 15 to 25 years if you treat them right.

The female is said to have white "racing stripes" on the feathers and are mostly gray.
