Here's a close up on the ball pythons head.
The scientific name of the ball python is Python regius. They live in the trees of western Africa. In the classroom they live in big glass tanks. Our ball python has a big rock too. In the classroom we feed it mice and small rats. In the wild it will eat small mammals and some lizards. Large birds of prey will eat the ball python.
The life cycle is normal. First the eggs, then the babies, and then after that comes the adult. They can live 28 years or longer if well-treated. They live alone until they mate. Then they go different ways again. The mother will stay with the eggs until they hatch, then she will leave.
This snake got its name because when scared it rolls into a ball. It is also called the royal python because of its colors. If you were to get a ball python you should not touch its head. If you did it would most likely bite you. So if in doubt, wear thick gloves. If you are wondering what the holes above the mouth are, they are heat sensors. That is the information I got about the ball python but I'm sure you could find more if you looked.

Full grown ball pythons normally get this big.
