MY DEGU IS BEING HELD.
I am doing my report on the degus. Their scientific name isOctodon degus. The degus live about anywhere they can dig burrows to live. The degus live in the southern coastal areas of Chile in South America. They also live from sea level to 10,000 feet.
In the classroom the degus like to play on the wheel and a brick for exercise. They also like to bury their food. The degus mostly eat birdseed, fruits, and dry dogfood in the classroom. The degus eat grass, grain, fruits, and nuts in the wild. They carry their extra food back to their burrow. The degus most fearful predator is the fox. The food cycle is the degus eat plants and the fox eats it.
Degus usually live from seven to ten years old. Degus can live in groups of tens to hundreds. Degus have their babies live after about 90 days of pregnancy. They usually have about four to six babies per litter.
Here are some of my personal observations: they like to hide from you and they like to nibble on wood. Other interesting information is they have hundreds of relatives and degus originally got their name from their teeth.
