It lives in wooded, cultivated land, desert, and tropical rain forests.Their geographic range is in Western Africa from Somalia to Tanzania.The classroom habitat is wood chips, water, and a food bowl. At birth the hedgehog weighs 0.43 to 0.63 ounces. The life span of the hedgehog is six to eight years in the wild and ten years in captivity.The hedgehog lives alone. The mother nurses her young for about thirty to thirty three days and then takes the young foraging for food.
