The Albino Gopher Snake's habitat is rocky fissures,and under fallen trees or logs. The gopher snake is found from California east to west Texas and south through the western half of Mexico.
Its classroom habitat is a ten gallon tank with wood chucks and a rock in it. It only eats mice in the classroom. Its food in the wild are: mice, squirrels, rabbits, and other small mammals and birds.
Smaller snakes prey on small lizards. Its predators in the wild are birds of prey.
Its life span is about twenty years in captivity and much less in the wild. The young are born as eggs. They are about 36-55 cm. long. When it is full grown its about 95 cm long.

They are so good at killing mice that some have been purchased to keep mice out of barns. If you are planning on buyingan albino gopher snake as a pet you should not use hot rocks in its tank because they tend to fluctuate too much and the snake can suffer severe burns. Some of the Albinos make good pets but they tend to get nervous when handled. There are two kinds of bites. One is a feeding bite, it is when they think that they have prey and they won't let go. The other is the strike. It is a warning that you have gone too far. They shoot at you mouth open and they retract just as quickly. Another fact is that albinos are only found in captivity.
