Western Hognose Snake

This is a Western Hognose coiled up on a rock!!

 

 
The Western Hognose snake lives on prairies, farmland, and wooded flood plains . They also live in sandy ground or fertile soil. If you want to keep them in a classroom you will need a temperature of 75-80 F. For bedding you would want shredded bark, garden mulch, gravel, or sand. The Western Hognose eats small mice in the classroom. The things that eat it are humans, hawks, and some other kinds of animal that are bigger than it. The Western Hognose can live to be 15-20 years old. The snake lives on it's own.
 
The Western Hognose lays it's eggs, and whenever they hatch they leave. If they get scared they might play dead. They might also spread their neck and hiss loudly. It is often called the False Fer de Lance.
