Button Quail

(Excalfactoria chinensis)

This buttonquail is about to turn around

The habitat for the buttonquail is dry bush or open country, and sometimes open woodland or marshy areas. The geographic range is Europe and Asia. It's classroom habitat is that it lives in a cage. The food it eats in the classroom is birdseed. The foods it eats in the wild are young shoots, insects, and grass seeds.

The things that might eat it are humans, eagles, hawks and wolves. The life span is about four to five years of age. They usually live in a small groups depending on how many babies the mother has. The babies will travel with their father while he searches for food. The mother will be building a new nest nearby.

Some observations I have made are it eats real fast but not very often, and it moves quickly inside of it's cage. Also I got some interesting information that they are related to a pigeon and sand grouse. They are sometimes called hemipodes. It has no hind toe so they are called " half foot" which means hemipodes. That is all the information that I have gotten on the button quail.
