Painted turtle setting on a rock

The painted turtles habitat is like a park. It lives mostly in North America. The turtle eats insects, worms, grubs, shellfish, fish, and some plants. It needs a warm place to stay in the classroom. In the classroom the painted turtle lives in a warm pond. We feed it pellets in the classroom.

When the female sea turtle lays its eggs it buries the eggs. Then she goes back into the water. When the baby sea turtles are first born they start heading for the water. When they are heading to the water seagulls and crabs eat them.

Turtles lay up to six to twelve eggs. Some turtles live over 150 years!!! Leather back turtles get up to eight feet long and 1,500 pounds!!!
